A quiet Friday

eve_primeI had a nice quiet day – I picked up two books at the bookstore then spent time with my feline friend Momo, because his “mom and dad” are at the Magic event in Portland with J and D. Later I watched the Friday movie, a strange one called Mazes and Monsters. It was a TV movie and Tom Hanks’s first film role. Apparently it was supposed to be a cautionary tale about games like Dungeons & Dragons, and the guy played by Hanks did experience a psychotic break, but he was already on the margins of that anyway, and the other three characters’ lives improved from spending so much time together.
Meanwhile, up in Portland, tomorrow J and D and DG and their friend CG will all play in the Regional Championship tournament. Today they finished getting the cards they needed for their decks, and they played in side events. They did so well in the side events that J and DG have already qualified for the next Regional Championship tournament – they’ll have to decide between Cincinnati in mid-May or Washington, DC, at the end of May.
