eve_primeIt’s still cold here, especially after dark, and I didn’t attempt to do much beyond a quick trip to the store. Even so, it seems much nicer than Disney World! So far, only the fireworks appeal to me, although J assures me that I’d like Epcot Center, where they’re probably going tomorrow. They all like to go on the rides – not my thing. Fortunately, with two of the family members certified as autistic, as long as one of them is with them they get to save considerable time in lines.
Meanwhile, in reading Ada Palmer’s book about the Renaissance, I came across something amusing/aggravating about Florence, Italy. She writes, “…the streets of Florence, where I often rescue befuddled tourists and study abroad students from such threats as bad pizza, bad gelato, the elusiveness of restrooms and water fountains, or the old “Help, this is the right street number but my hostel doesn’t exist?!!” (Answer: Florence has two sets of street numbers, the red numbers (rossi) sometimes written in black, and the black numbers (neri) often written in blue – this is not reasonable but it is hilarious, and based on which doors were commercial and which residential 300 years ago.)
