We had at most half an inch of snow last night – enough to make the trees on the Butte very pretty, but nowhere near enough to close the schools. On Tuesdays and Thursdays (the day I drive him there early for jazz band practice), I normally have to wake him up by smushing the cat into his face (his having ignored the alarm), but today he leaped out of bed and came dashing out to check the school district website. Alas. He was mildly outraged. During the day it snowed quite often, too, but it didn’t stick. Just now, J. was leaving for the night and we found that the street is all twinkly with ice, but I really doubt we’ll get more snow, and there’s none in the forecast until nearly New Year’s. Poor D – he would love a longer winter break.
