Jupiter on the go
Nov. 28th, 2012 09:19 pmThe moon-and-clouds effect was especially neat during tonight’s walk. Jupiter is just a few degrees above the moon, and because the clouds were moving so fast, there was an optical illusion – focusing on Jupiter made it appear the planet was moving rapidly, then taking in a fuller visual range (to include the moon) corrected it to show that it was instead the clouds. (Well, Jupiter is actually zipping through space at 75,000 mph, but, you know.)
