Duly appended
May. 20th, 2012 10:26 pmToday I stuck the twelve appendices into my dissertation file, rendering it 1.5 MB in size. When I had only four to go, though, Word crashed in such a fashion that my file was corrupted, so it’s a very good thing that I save differently named versions fairly often. Unfortunately, Word also managed to take out my two main SPSS data files – they were open at the time, and the Word crash freezed up SPSS too, and now those files won’t open. I had something approximating backups for them, though, or else I’d be freaking out. My theory is that SPSS imagines they’re open somewhere else, so I shouldn’t get to join in the fun.
Anyhow, I weathered all of this with reasonable equanimity, browsing pages in Sheri Tepper’s A Plague of Angels as I waited for the various reboots and saves and such. I’m less thrilled about the files that G. is dumping on me for the proposal, though he’s certainly doing a startling amount of work on it himself.
I guess I should take another stab at that “salience” data...
(Yes, my day was quite as dull as all of that implies. I did watch Mythbusters and I read The Red Pyramid to D. for an hour.)
