• D’s basketball jamboree has made him miserable. His team only had five players today. One of them aggravates D. no end by flagrantly messing up on the rules; another aggravates me (and the coach) by refusing to run under any circumstances. He plods from beneath the basket to half-court and back. D, meanwhile, plays his heart out, but he can't carry a team on his own, especially since he's so short compared with the others. Fortunately, once at home his spirits returned within half an hour, both days.
  
• I’d be tempted to get a gerbil if I could keep Lillian from knowing about it. She’d be far too interested!
  
• The closing theme from Scrapped Princess is stuck in my brain – a nice change from the Beauty and the Beast songs that had been playing non-stop in there for the last few days.
  
• I’m rereading The Beekeeper’s Apprentice – haven’t done that for a few years.
