Fog-gardening
Nov. 28th, 2011 10:37 pmToday I found that 44̊F is actually optimal gardening weather, if the air is still and there’s no rain. I started by sweeping most of the rest of the leaves out of the driveway, then I did enough weeding that I could plant all the tulip bulbs, then I intended to prune the rose “hedge” alongside the driveway but ended up tackling the great big unwieldy one under the kitchen window. I got maybe two-thirds of the way through the project, but by then the yard debris bin was way overflowing.
Middle school basketball is much different from how it was in grade school, but we’re delighted that D’s old coach is continuing with them. After they split the 32+ kids from the try-outs into three or four teams, maybe D. won’t get his old coach, but I hope he will. Chad really appreciates how hard D. works and plays, even though he’s so not-tall and his shooting isn’t amazing.
