“Grant Madness” and its remedies
Jan. 26th, 2011 09:44 pmToday I woke to full-on “grant madness” – I was already plenty stressed about all the work I needed to do to integrate the last round of JA’s edits, when I got an e-mail from her today making a case for changing the proposal from 5 years to 3 years. This made excellent sense, unfortunately, although it would also have been a lot of work all around. I called JG, though, and she made an even better case in the other direction, so we ended up not changing. Plenty of “ack” for me, though.
I decided to balance out my afternoon mental stress with lovely physical experiences in the evening, and I started the project by picking up Thai food at Mekala’s. Unfortunately, they seem to be economizing excessively. The red beef curry was nearly all carrots, the cashew stir-fry was nearly all celery, and they charged me for the pad thai but I didn’t get it. Oh well. We watched a Eureka episode, then I went on a good walk in the dark, enjoying the stars. I do have to work more on the proposal, but I plan to escape into The Hallowed Hunt for a while too.
