eve_primeThis evening I got a rather exasperating e-mail – the yellowjacket essay, which had been "accepted pending revisions" in July 2006, just got rejected, after two rounds of revision. The process of dealing with the anthology editors had been so aggravating that by this point, I'd pretty much lost interest in their project, but their abruptness is still annoying.
I tried to forward the e-mail to a friend who'd be interested, and it bounced back because she's no longer at her job, so I went looking for another address for her, and then my Internet connection failed. After getting up and resetting the modem and router – twice – I finally got my connection working again, only to discover at the top of my inbox an e-mail from my only first cousin telling me that my uncle had passed away this morning from pneumonia at the relatively young age of 71, and asking me to tell my mom and sister.
It is all wearying.
