New bits of knowledge
May. 26th, 2026 11:54 pmThis evening we went for a walk and actually found someplace new! We headed south to walk through the little bamboo grove that one household has planted – it arches over the sidewalk beside their house – and then kept going. We took the sidewalk shortcut to a road for which the approach by road is too steep for me, and I had thought that it just curved around to rejoin the main road a block or so later, but then it turned out there were two little side streets. One of them had some amazingly beautiful light purple rhododendrons, very tall. So I learned about a new street, and J (who had learned that too, but didn’t much care) also learned that artichokes are a type of thistle (which I already knew). And we met a nice long-haired tortoiseshell kitty.

I love those tortoiseshell cats. That was the last cat I had - in my late twenties. It's name was Kit-Kat. Yes after the candy bar, LOL.
