Current wildfire map
Aug. 7th, 2024 01:49 pmHere's where the wildfires are currently in Washington State (top) and Oregon (bottom). The blue star I've added shows where I am (Eugene). I should add that about 70% of Oregonians live in the narrow corridor between us and Portland to our north, and less than 10% live in the eastern half of the state (which is mostly cold desert).
We are thankful that the winds come mostly from the Pacific Ocean, so we don't get a lot of smoke blown in our direction unless, of course, there are wildfires in the Coast Range. Thankfully, there are none there now but they are certainly plentiful in the Cascade Range to our east.
