Plodding toward Friday’s deadline

I’m now in the proposal phase of tweaking phrasings so as to cut down the line count. It had been 42 lines too long, now it’s only 15 and JG is going to take a turn in the morning. Also, our subcontractor didn’t think I was serious about the annual maximums for their budget, so I had to send it back and tell them to cut $1 from year three and $17 from year four, blah.

J. is back from Canada and gave me a $2 coin. D. gets to get up 45 minutes later than usual for the rest of the week, which is a blessing. I finished reading Lamb for tomorrow’s book club meeting, but I didn’t really care for it.

And Tuesday

Our proposal is essentially done, and tonight was book club. Good things!

On the other hand, I burned the rice again, in the same manner as previously. Time to post a note to myself above the stove. Also time to buy a new three-quart saucepan, I am thinking.

Poor cats, first the smoke alarm and then hours of burned-rice smell in the house.
