Beethoven-brained
Jul. 21st, 2012 10:53 pmThe “Egmont Overture” (which I quite like) was playing in my brain during my last dream this morning, so when I was driving home this evening from visiting J. briefly downtown at a Magic Pro Tour qualifier event, I was happy to hear some Beethoven-like music on the radio. It was a familiar piece and I wondered what it was, but it turned out to be only the first movement. Apparently I don’t have a functioning radio in the house? And I couldn’t figure out the KWAX internet streaming, so I ended up back in my car, listening interminably in the near-dark to this lengthy symphony. It was one of those things that keeps building up to the grand finale... again and again. Eventually I learned it was Beethoven’s “Seventh.” Ah well. I did like the first movement.
D. had only invited three boys to his birthday-party sleepover, and they all seem to be out of town, so I was getting worried, but today a second boy responded by e-mail that he can come. Whew. Now D. is wondering how he can entertain them, since he doesn’t have much to do at his dad’s house. I’ve been helping him brainstorm it.
