“Summer of Zelda” update
Jun. 21st, 2012 10:31 pmToday when I got up, D. was saving the final battle(s) in Twilight Princess for me to watch him play through. After finishing that, we downloaded the first two Zelda games onto the Wii, and he’s been immersed in the original Legend of Zelda ever since. (Well, save for a trip to the pool, an episode of Mythbusters, an hour and a half with his dad, and most of a chapter in Throne of Fire. So, maybe four hours.)
He loves it. He’s old enough to appreciate its classic qualities. Early on, he was going, “Run! Ack! Ack! This is exhilirating, for some reason.” Now, four dungeons and nine new container-hearts later, he’s still talking about how playing the game is “magical.” Me, I’m surprised at how many details I remember, this many years later. I’m also awfully curious about Zelda II, since I remember very little of it except the main music and one small view of the map.
