Day 619: Happy turkey day!
Nov. 25th, 2021 11:37 pmWe had a fine and relaxing Thanksgiving. In the afternoon, R. stopped by to pick D. up for a few hours, so we showed him the new deck and fence and awning, and we chatted for maybe 20 minutes. Even though I only see him every few months now, I still maintain that the total amount of conversation we have is more than we had during the last several years of our marriage.
At dinnertime we had roast turkey breast, mashed potatoes, biscuits, cranberry jelly (for J), brussels sprouts (for me), and raw carrots (for D). We had three flavors of Martinelli's sparkling cider: apple-grape (for D), apple-pomegranate (for J), and apple-cranberry (for me). Later we had apple pie. The cats all had turkey-flavored cat food.
Although I grumbled a lot about it ahead of time, it really wasn't a big deal to peel and dice the apples - it took no more than 25-30 minutes. It's so much easier with full-sized apples from the store than the small ones from the tree! D cut the biscuits and assembled them on the baking sheet, although he didn't get home in time to make the dough. J whipped the mashed potatoes.
This year's Thanksgiving movie was Avengers: Endgame, which I'd been procrastinating watching. Now we can finally watch the more recent Marvel movies and the last two seasons of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., which have been taking up tons of space on my DVR.
I'm glad we had such a nice time. It will be so strange if D is in Korea next year and not with us for Thanksgiving, so I must appreciate it while I have it!
