Day 611: Fence down!
Nov. 17th, 2021 09:25 pmToday's plan was for me to remove the fence, enlisting the help of the guy who hauls stuff for me, after he'd finished with the blackberries. But he didn't show up (and didn't call until 41 minutes after he was expected here), so I did it myself, with some help - one of the guys building the deck offered me the use of a "sawzall" to cut down the posts, which J. used for several of them, and our neighbor Mercy helped carry some of the boards. And when we were down to five posts, another of the guys building the deck offered to do them in the morning at no charge ("it would take me like 30 seconds each!"). But besides all that, it was more than two hours of real labor for me, resulting in this stack of wood:

So that saved us $1000, less whatever we spend to get that hauled away. Tomorrow they'll put up the new fence. Meanwhile, the new deck and awning are beautiful! I'll post a photo when the "roof" is on the awning.
