On Fridays, D. has only one class (teaching English), which he does from home via Zoom, and afterwards we needed to go to the credit union to deposit a check that they weren't able to handle online. The university has sent D. three mysterious large checks in the past year or so, and like one of the others, this one was for COVID relief, some federal funds. Not that D's suffered financial hardships from the pandemic, but surely many students have.

Anyway we took J. with us too, and after the credit union we went to the Office Max store so that D. could finally pick out the new office chair that J. was giving him for his birthday (more than three months ago - D's been busy). Although J. favored a padded model rather like his recliner, D. and I both thought the most comfortable chair was actually the least expensive one. They didn't have any more boxed up, so we managed to wrestle the floor model into the back seat of J's car. He also bought R. a birthday gift, then we headed home.

Not long after, I went on a twilight walk to the post office, for exercise. Venus was startlingly bright, above Blanton Heights where it would soon set. Then J. and I watched this week's movie, An American Tail, which I had never seen. I had strong opinions about it, which were not favorable.

One of my favorite things about the kittens is how much Oberon loves them. He hangs out and plays with them when they're being lively, and when it's rainy, like it's been tonight, he curls up in their "nest" with them, as if he were a kitten too. Oberon is much more sociable than his brother, sister, mother, uncle, etc., and I hadn't realized how much he needed some cat-friends.
