Tonight I attended the Delgani String Quartet concert; I'd viewed the livestream of the concert on Sunday so I was more familiar with the music than most of the rest of the audience, and the more I hear any given piece, the more I can enjoy it the next time. They played four "Cypresses" by Dvorak, the third string quartet by Reza Vali, some short folksong-based works by Florence Prize, and the Prokofiev second string quartet, which they'd played years before.

Before it started, I chatted a bit with violist Kim, who was delighted that I'd already heard it on Sunday, and even more delighted when I assured her that my lack of musical training would mean I wouldn't notice any differences or mistakes. I also chatted with young musicians S&A, whom I know from the youth orchestras, and briefly with their mom. During the intermission I chatted with Wyatt, who's retired from playing with the quartet to focus on being the executive director. And afterwards I introduced myself to the new first violinist, Anthea, who's a world-class musician. After I'd chatted with her briefly, my concert-friend Linda came up to ask about my book project (she is also a writer), so I included Anthea, who is also writing a book. I am sure things will go more smoothly for her than for me!

Also today I attended G's lab, bought groceries with J, and wrote a blog post. Oh, and I also conversed a bit with our neighbor T; I learned that H. and his wife (the ones mostly in charge of the neighborhood feral cat population) are currently down in Ashland, where his wife is in the hospital. It's pretty hard to track him down to talk about the cats, especially now that I know he's about 200 miles away.
