Day 568: Strange visitors
Oct. 6th, 2021 11:55 amAround 6:30 pm today, I was outside working on whacking random branches off the poor apple tree, when D arrived with S, to introduce her to the kittens. As one would expect, Azalyn was the first to approach her, but mostly to bat at her with her paw, while Ambrose was the one who actually came up, eventually, willing to be petted. Tertius just dashed back and forth.
Anyway, while we were standing around talking about the kittens, suddenly a waist-tall turkey came walking down the driveway. We've seen the turkeys on the other side of the street many times, but never in our own yards. The whole flock was there, and the juveniles are now fully grown. One by one they came down the driveway or decided we were too scary and instead leaped, blind, over Amber's backyard fence, walked through her yard parallel to the driveway, then leaped out again into her front yard to rejoin the others. S. thought they were coming from the roof of J's two-story house!
