Day 504: No NC trip?
Aug. 1st, 2021 11:56 pmFirst, I should say that all three of us felt better today than expected. J. and I were about the same as yesterday, and D. bounced back and returned to work. J. and I even managed a walk, once it was dark and cool enough.
Anyhow, J's been hoping to return to NC to see his family this summer. He hasn't been there for two and a half years, thanks to the pandemic, and he was definitely going to go once things improved. June would have been perfect, we see in hindsight, but we had our guests visiting then, and J. wanted to space out his vacation some. Now, though, with the Delta variant, it's looking pretty unlikely. His mom's disappointment that he was planning to spend part of the trip at his brother's without her there has become a moot point. Today he talked with them on the phone for a long time, and they decided that the best time for him to visit would be, ha, next week! and only if the trajectory for Delta changes from what it is now, within the next day or two. The infection rates in the NC counties he'd be visiting are already literally off the charts compared with the worst it's been here.
Today I made both risotto (lemon asparagus) and spaghetti (ground beef and mushrooms), paid the bills, did the laundry, photographed the new kittens, read outside some, played a video game with J, and watched a bit of TV.
