Day 503: Sick-ish?
Jul. 31st, 2021 09:56 pmAs I've mentioned, D's girlfriend/best friend S. has had a really intense respiratory illness for the past 2.5 weeks, which supposedly isn't COVID. She was vaccinated even before we were, and she had the rapid antigen test yesterday, which was negative. D. interacted in person with her about their planned outing on his birthday, two days ago, and had dinner with her (but outside) a few days before that.
So... last night I slept an extra hour and a half! And I didn't feel great when I woke up, then I learned that J. has a sore throat today. Then after a while I discovered that D. was home too - he'd gone to work but felt sick so came home. So I guess we caught it. I am hoping that my extra sleep last night was my body successfully mostly fighting it off, fueled perhaps by all the Vitamin C from the great many berries I've eaten this week. Time will tell. If one of us gets as sick as S. was, though, I'm going to insist on the more accurate type of COVID test.
D. disappeared in the late afternoon; I assume he's gone to S's to relax there. I did a bunch of writing and editing then sat outside with J. to read. I skimmed through a book called Poetics of Space, by French philosopher Gaston Bachelard, then I paged through a companion photo book for the mysteries set on the Hebrides by Peter May, then I started a Neal Stephenson book.
