Mozart's Starling, by Lyanda Lynn Haupt. This was great! I learned a lot about starlings and their amazing abilities, a fair amount about Mozart, and numerous fascinating connections between them. Haupt is a well known nature writer (I own her book Crow Planet too but haven't read it), who was intrigued to learn that Mozart had bought a pet starling after hearing the bird sing a theme from one of his concertos. She even adopted her own starling, Carmen, learning a great deal from her and their mutual experience.
