Beginning of the end?

I was walking up the driveway, just before 11 pm, and I noticed something truly bizarre - what looked like a series of stars was making a progression across the northern part of the sky, from west to east. There were about 10 in the sky at a time, and as soon as each got to the midpoint between west and east, it would fade out. It was astounding! I rushed inside and got J, who came to look with me. A jet plane passed beneath the procession, clearly far below the lights, although high up, presumably going from California directly to Portland or Seattle without a stop here. We were dumbfounded.

Then I came inside and looked it up - it was Elon Musk's doing. Around the world, people have reported seeing these strings of lights, and it's his SpaceX satellites. He's been asked to make them less reflective, since they're messing up astronomy, but whatever he's doing so far hasn't fixed it much. And this is only the beginning; he has plans to add thousands more. Amazon plans to launch 3,000 satellites too. Our sky is going to be a cluttered mess.
