Today, within half an hour of waking, I was already borrowing J's car and zooming to the tax accountant's office with the info she asked for, getting there two minutes before their mid-day closing. Whew! Then I used an online thesaurus to fuss over the name of my new paper, eventually coming up with something I like very much.

Later in the day, we went to Safeway (both J&D were out of milk), and I worked some on the various planters in my driveway (so much easier without my car there, and it had never occurred to me to park it in the street for this purpose), and we got J's little chainsaw to get rid of a branch on the big bush in the backyard and to saw up the big dead branch we pulled out of my hawthorn tree a few days back. By the way, 10 days after finishing the project of cutting down all the blackberry sprouts in my backyard, there are dozens again, some almost two feet tall.

Then I made rice for our leftover Thai food, then I went to Market of Choice for a good supply of bread, then I made spinach risotto while vacuuming the livingroom and getting it ready for tomorrow.

So, good progress on the estate, my writing, my yard, and I suppose my bread supply, and tasty risotto for the next few lunches. J. made good progress on his taxes, too (haven't started mine yet). I have also been enjoying the amusing sight of J's little chainsaw on his kitchen floor, as he hasn't put it away yet. And soon we'll watch the Saturday night anime.

Meanwhile, D. played in an online Magic tournament, going 7-1 and making Day Two! He's excited about the prospect of winning $2000 tomorrow, if he gets 7 wins again. That would be a fine Mother's Day accomplishment indeed.
