Day 369: Tales of Earthsea
Mar. 19th, 2021 11:55 pmThe Friday movie today was Tales of Earthsea, which we hadn't seen before. Earthsea has a very special place in J's heart with great childhood memories. I liked it, myself, but not as strongly, and when I tried to read it to B. when he was young, he got quite upset with the child's death scene, and we had to quit mid-book. Anyway - the movie was generally interesting and pretty, but we could see why Ursula Le Guin was somewhat disappointed with it, and why Hayao Miyazaki wasn't impressed with his son's work - too derivative of their other movies, for one thing.
I'd planned to get a bunch of work done today but ended up working on my mom's taxes some more, including another errand to the tax preparer's office. I got a library visit in on the same trip, though. I'm so glad Oregon is doing so well COVID-wise compared to the rest of the U.S.
