I spent the day foggy-brained, as I'd woken in the night, too hot and congested, and never really got over it. I didn't even try to do work tasks, as I had lots of meetings to fill the day.

First, two friends from the youth symphony Board, JH and HS, came by to drop off gifts and cards. We chatted in J's open garage (it was raining) for almost half an hour, until I had to dash inside for my second meeting, a quarterly meeting for the IT department at work. All the admin workgroups at work report to committees composed of scientists and science support staff, so they tell us stuff and we ask questions and try to represent our constituents. This was my first meeting with this group, and it was moderately interesting.

I had a short break, then I attended the beginning of J's sword class, to do warm-ups and also to ask about a technique we'd been taught in the movement class. It was fun - this time the sword master introduced me to the other three students (one of whom I've known longer than J - she's a retired former coworker - so that's, hm, approaching 28 years).

Then I got a call from my mom's tax accountant, who told me a bunch of stuff and asked me a bunch of stuff.

Sword class was at 6:30, and I had two things scheduled for 7: the book club meeting with that wild animal behavior book that I'd finished yesterday, and then yay our symphony conductor announced this afternoon that he was finally having a watch party again, after five weeks off. (I was wondering if he was ghosting on us, but then there he was!) I could in theory do both things at once (I have before), but it's not ideal. I'd wear my headphones and get the audio from both, and do mic and visuals for the book club, which is on Zoom; the other is just Facebook or YouTube live with typed chat. But then our book club hostess emailed us that she was having a very bad day with asthma - which is awful - but at least it alleviated my conflict. Our conductor taught us about the structure of a Brahms piece - he geeks out about it and we find it fascinating.

Then I spent all evening at J's, trying to focus well enough to read, and now, blessedly, I can sleep soon.
