Day 367: End of an era
Mar. 17th, 2021 11:51 pmToday was my last day on the Board of the youth orchestras; after six years you're required to take a year off. Kim, the Board president, came by and chatted with me out in the street - she lives maybe three blocks away. She brought me a card from herself and a gift certificate to Cafe Soriah, the Eastern Mediterranean restaurant where her son has worked - it's probably the nicest restaurant in town. Then we had the monthly eeting, and H. kept saying how much she loves me and will miss me. As far as I know, I'll come back in a year, but we'll see! I'll also stay on the Grants committee, since it's so easy. Tomorrow, JH (who gives me apples every summer, even this past summer) will also come over, bringing a card from the whole Board.]
Other fine things about today:
Other fine things about today:
- We got dinner from the Italian place that makes fabulous lasagna, and this time J's portion size was fine and his food wasn't cool, so now he'll be willing to try it again.
- We learned that J. can do a sword workshop on Saturday, and then a week from Saturday they can actually do sword stuff in person, atop the reservoir where we've gone for Star Parties!
- I finally got to the point in the paper revision that I can just look things up and plug in the numbers - no more complicated decisions to make. This is something of a relief.
- I finished a somewhat tiresome book - I guess it gets its own post.
- Oh right, Happy St. Patrick's Day!
