Day 364: Pi Party
Mar. 14th, 2021 11:56 pmToday was our Safeway shopping day, and as we entered Safeway they had a display of pies for pie day - apple, marionberry, and some other berry. J got it into his head that key lime pie would suit him, so he looked in both the bakery and frozen foods section, finally choosing two frozen pies to buy (the first was $8 but the second only $4).
So, late evening, around 11 pm, we had a Pi Party. D. came over and had a slice, I had a very thin wedge, and J. had his second slice of the day. I asked him how many digits of pi he could tell us, and he came up with quite a few, then shared numerous other facts about the number. Much more interesting was learning about how D's girlfriend S. has been playing Hollow Knight, and how far she's gotten.
Other things today, hm. J got up early for a big Zoom call birthday party for his friend Stephen, who lives in Chicago. I got up in time for the afternoon senior recital of Dante, a clarinetist from D's high school, two years older - he'd gone to university in Colorado for a year but didn't like it and was happy to return to our local university but had to start his four years over. The Brahms quintet was especially pretty, and it was convenient to listen from home, but it would have been more fun in person. After dinner I spent two hours working on a tiresome manuscript revision, but at least I'm making progress, and after that I read before and after the Pi Party and then watched half a TV show about places in England where Agatha Christie lived or spent time.
