I rather spoil the semi-feral outdoor cats. I give them dry food whenever I notice their bowls are empty, and I also give them one can of wet food in the late afternoon and one when I come home from J's at night, so, more or less 5 pm and 1 am. They also eat at H's down the street, plus whatever hunting they do, plus whatever the evangelical Christian ladies who walk past the house every morning around 6 am leave for them near the mailboxes (over my protests). They are, in fact, very well-fed cats. Oberon, who lets me carry him around, is especially solid.

But really, from their perspective they're kind of on their own for food, so it's amusing when they decide to reject a flavor of wet food. That's what happened yesterday and today with the Friskies "salmon shreds." They've been eating it for months, and they've had cans from this particular batch for about two weeks, so it's unlikely that the flavor is off. My guess would have been that Samantha just got tired of it, or maybe ate an ant in a bite of it yesterday or something, and everyone else was following her lead, except that today "Derwood" only picked at it too before going to a bowl of dry food, and "Derwood" doesn't interact with the other cats at all. (Samantha hates him. He fathered several of her kittens, and she won't have anything to do with him, and her children generally follow suit.) It's a mystery. Too bad I'd just ordered another box of this flavor yesterday.

Other things today - I got a bit of work done. I drove downtown to return a library book another patron had requested (and to make sure my car gets some use). I made Lebanese meatballs and went on a short walk with J. I watched the Tuesday version of the Delgani concert, live, and J. and I played the Spire With Friends game again.
