Day 320: The sublime and the ridiculous

eve_primeThis evening, after getting some long-procrastinated work done, I settled in with headphones to finally listen to the Schubert cello quintet, which was amazing. The first movement was very beautiful, and the second was very very very beautiful; it's been used a lot in movies and such, and is quite familiar.
I stopped with two movements to go, so I could join J. watching this Friday's online movie. The hostess had been doing "Bad Videogame Day" today, so the viewers got to vote between three bad videogame movies, and I can hardly believe it, but I did sit through all of Mortal Kombat. It's perhaps the worst movie I've seen since the year I saw a lot of trash movies at drive-ins as a teenager, yet it was okay enough that I did conclude I was willing to see the whole thing. After 35 minutes or so, the martial arts started, and that was something of a relief, as it was way more entertaining than the script. Also, the character I most disliked was the one who's supposed to be their mentor and was J's favorite in the game, heh.
