Well, maybe it's not a full-fledged pattern, it's just how I've been for the past several days. Every other day, I have ample energy and a drive to get things done, but there's so much to be done that although I go to bed at a normal time, I end up staying awake an extra hour or two, or more, just lying in bed not sleeping. Not fretting, not uncomfortable, just... not sleeping. Then the next day I'm sleep deprived and get barely anything done, but at least I fall asleep at bedtime and sleep solidly all night, waking up refreshed and starting the cycle again. I've tried getting more exercise on the energy-days, but it doesn't help. I hope I'll "outgrow" this pattern soon.

Today was an energy day, thankfully, as I don't want to drive when I'm short on sleep, and D. had a scheduled allergy appointment and of course can't take the bus. I drove him there and spent the entire 32 minutes of his appointment walking. I checked the nearby Safeway for the frozen meal D. prefers for lunch - both that Safeway and mine have had bare shelves in that freezer for a couple weeks now. I hope it's just a distribution problem, not a Safeway decision to stop carrying it. Then I went the other direction from my car to the library and returned three books to the outdoor slot, then collected one from the pickup location.

I did useful stuff all afternoon, then did yet another walk, then did stretches and warmups at the beginning of J's sword class, before heading home to the symphony watch party, where I learned about polyphony and fugues.
