A few hours in Virtual Sussex

This afternoon, I spent a couple of hours at the Russell/Holmes Garden Party on Twitter. Mary Russell, one of my favorite characters in fiction, hosted the event, in honor of the next volume of her memoirs, The Pirate King, which is coming out in a few weeks. We were served “honey wine” and scones, and a great many parrots made pests of themselves; there was also at least one cat and a rabbit. Our hostess addressed me several times! What a lovely companion activity to reading the newspaper and doing the laundry, I must say.
