Alice, finished, finally
Jan. 31st, 2011 09:30 pmWe finally made it through reading Through the Looking-Glass aloud. I must say, there are parts that really bog down, especially for a kid. It’s kind of a pity that some of the best stuff is at the end, because I was having to coax D. into letting me finish it. I read about 50 pages tonight, blustering on through until finally it was over, and my throat rather sore. He did really like some of the last parts, though he cheered the most when I agreed that, yes, it was done.
There’s almost nothing for me to do on the proposal this evening. I can just try to boost my spirits and energy for tomorrow, when it begins all over again, this flood of e-mails of things to change. At this point it’s like treading water, until other people agree that it’s okay. Then I’ll give it a read-through to make sure I still think it’s okay. And then it goes away, and then I want to utterly change gears and forget all about it.
