This afternoon I finished The Man-Eater of Punanai, in which Christopher Ondaatje interweaves the story of a visit to his boyhood home in Sri Lanka, his relationship with his late father, the terrorism and violence that now pervade the countryside, and a quest to encounter the great leopards who still rule over the island's wilderness. I am entranced with the poetry of the Sri Lankan placenames!
