The "body wisdom" thing
Aug. 25th, 2006 05:14 pm On Monday, I finally felt healthy again, and it was about time! So when I started feeling motion-sick on Tuesday, I kept trying to brush it aside, to resist the idea that I could still be sick, and plow on through. As a consequence I felt awful much of Tues., Wed., and Thurs., and got very little accomplished.
Today I decided to be more logical about it. I've felt "not bad" when I wake up, then quite queasy by late morning, which intensifies and lasts until evening, at which point I generally stay in one spot and gradually feel better. So I realized I had better recognize that I again have labyrinthitis, which I'm prone to getting; it's an inner ear condition usually caused by a virus. Today I've been moving slowly and deliberately, mostly keeping my head rigid, and drinking lots of liquids. As a consequence, today I got quite a bit of work done!
One thing I did was download Open Office onto R's computer, so that I could print some of my work (this crippled machine can't communicate with its printer at the moment). Open Office looks like it replaces Word, Excel, and Power Point, and it worked just fine for me today.
I'm going to miss Diablo II this weekend, though.
fractal9091 and I had just created our new characters: his paladin Arantor, specializing in Blessed Hammer, and my druid Lokys, who's going to be a "Fire Claws Werebear." Unfortunately, D2 requires 240 more colors than this computer can muster. (I downloaded the driver for my monitor, but that didn't help.)
