Home again, home again
Sep. 14th, 2024 11:54 pmJ has returned safely home, after a very long day. He woke up in England (near Heathrow) at what would have been 10 pm our time the night before, then flew across the Atlantic to North Carolina with his mom. He talked with her at the airport for quite a while, looking at their photos together, then took two more flights to get back to Eugene, arriving home before midnight. The internet tells me a direct flight would have been 5006 miles! His actual travel was more like 6750 miles.
As for me, I vacuumed both houses, etc., and then went to a concert by pianist Andrei Andreev, a Russian who had gone to grad school in Eugene and is now living here again while waiting for political asylum. He is extremely good! We heard four Beethoven sonatas. Afterwards I stopped by the game store to say hi to D, who was there playing for the "store championship" (he made top 8 but didn't make top 4), then I came home and eventually finished reading All Clear, which I'll write about tomorrow, as I'm very tired.
