A rather hectic Sunday
Jul. 22nd, 2024 11:46 pmToday was a very full day. Hm. D arrived safely home from his California trip, and I chatted a bit with R about Biden's decision to drop from the race, then I came inside and chatted with D about it too. I also heard a bit about their family event for R's parents. Only eight or so actually went down to Dinuba - R and his sister, the four biological grandchildren and one of the two adopted ones, and the great-grandchild, who is a toddler. There are lots of pictures and a book that I'll get to look at later.
Then I did errands. I bought a Le Guin book and drove downtown, where I picked up a library book and J, who had dropped off his bike for whatever constitutes a bike's "tune-up." We read outside, then we both did yardwork, and we took a walk, and he did some cleaning, and we made a list of all the housework that needs to happen at his house before his brother and nephew arrive, a week from Wednesday. And then we did a bunch of work on making reservations for his trip to England and Wales with his mom in six weeks. Once it was after midnight, I actually called London on the phone! That was mildly nerve-wracking but nothing compared with the time I called France, ha.
I made progress on the outdoor cats' summer problem of having their food overrun by ants and wasps - I put some dishes for the dry food into a shallow tray filled with water. They'll just have to wait until after dark to eat the wet food. I also did the laundry but the dryer broke again...
