In which D heads south

eve_primeToday D headed to California for a memorial event for his Grandma Mary. Or rather, that's what we thought the event was, but then it turned out to be something like a memorial event for both of his grandparents, perhaps combined with a family reunion? He still wasn't sure yesterday. Anyway, his dad and brother picked him up today to drive six hours to Red Bluff, where they're spending two nights with his aunt, and then I guess they're driving another four hours on Friday to Dinuba, which is south of Fresno, for the main event. Then I guess B is going somewhere else, and R is going to drive D back to Red Bluff on Saturday and then home on Sunday. So it's really a major four-night event.
R's family is small. At this point it's just him and two sons, and his sister with a husband and two adult children plus two adopted young adult children; the biological children have a total of three kids of their own. R's dad has no other living relatives, and his mom has the offspring of two sisters and a brother, so I wonder if they're also invited? I guess I'll hear about it on Sunday.
