Magic qualifying

Today, J, D, and DG played in another regional championship qualifier. DG had qualified two weeks ago, but he went along for fun, potential other prizes, and socializing. D won today's event! He didn't lose any games all day. Now it's J's turn, but he may wait to try until mid-August, since he's picky about the format. In any case, he'll probably go along with D and DG to the regional championship event, which is in Washington, DC, in October. (Our "region" is the United States.)

(D did wear his mask while playing, though he took it off later for dinner. It was good for him to wear a mask in any case, because the friends he'd spent time with on Wednesday were coming down with Covid. He seems fine, though.)

And in the summer, too! D's friend who caught it was the most eager to get vaccinated when that was first an option, so I'm sure she was being careful.

There does seem to be a fair bit of covid in the US. We've had some nasty respiratory infections going around, but they're not covid.

I'm glad he didn't have to have Covid again. And I'm glad he's going to get to visit DC. I think J wants to show him the Air and Space Museum.
