Ninjas, etc.
Jun. 14th, 2024 11:50 pmThis week's Friday movie was Five Elements Ninjas, which made a lot more sense when I looked it up and realized that it was a Chinese movie. I had assumed it was going to be a Japanese movie, but all the names were Chinese, etc.. It was a Hong Kong martial arts film from 1982, extremely violent but not at all realistic - for example, most of the blood was dark pink rather than red, and all of the dismemberment was implied rather than shown. The dubbing was also unintentionally quite funny, with strange pauses in the middle of sentences so that the voices could match the movement of the characters' mouths, and with odd errors like a person named Mr. Hong in the subtitles being referred to as "Mr. Kang." It was an odd experience.
Meanwhile, D's girlfriend S. had a minor accident today (fainting and hitting her head), which led to D. driving her to the urgent care clinic, which wasn't able to help her, so she went home and took a nap. I think she's okay other than being more embarrassed about the event than most of us would be. D hasn't had much driving practice yet, so that part of it was stressful for him too.
I continue to be extra-sleepy from the pollen. I have to be strategic about getting things done during periods of normal alertness.
