In the afternoon, I impulsively walked to the post office and back to mail two bill payments that I could just have put in the slot at home (although this did get them into the system a day faster), and I took the steeper route in both directions. Then, in the evening, I impulsively went to the university library too, and I read outside a while after I got home.
When I checked out some books at the university library, the staff person told me they would be due on December 6, and I said, "wow, I can't even imagine December 6!" He and his colleague agreed.
The new Oregon Bach Festival book club book is quite interesting, as is the professor who's leading it. The author does say some ignorant things, though, so it's harder to trust him on the other stuff. Example: The Native Americans were all nomadic hunter-gatherers and non-hierarchical. A few pages later he then goes on to talk about the Maya, Aztec, and Inca people, who obviously had cities and hierarchies, so presumably he meant "Native Americans north of Mexico," but of course that's not correct either.
Now the mouse I use on my desktop computer has failed, which makes it very hard to use the vpn there, etc. I hope that switching to a different mouse will solve the problem.

Date: 2024-06-10 09:34 pm (UTC)I am sorry I got so busy on Thursdays, I had high hopes for that zoom book club. If it is the one you speak of. Wednesdays have not worked out lately for my art call with my good friend, so we have been doing Thursdays.
