Memorial Day
May. 28th, 2024 11:57 pmThe usual, but it was fun. I took pink roses to the people at the cemetery to whom I usually give flowers on Memorial Day (my late step-dad Arnold and his first wife, my friend's dad, and a high school friend), then came home and rushed about helping J get ready to host a barbecue for our friends. We had nine this time: D and S, DG and AA, JC and MSC and their three-year-old and the two of us. Hot dogs, burgers, and some kind of sausages with cheese in them; grilled corn; berries, chips, etc. JC brought a rhubarb dessert and some watermelon slices. After they had left, J and I read outside until a mosquito bothered him. I kept reading outside until I got cold, then we did a short walk to enjoy the last moments of daylight.
