Mansfield Park, by Jane Austen. I procrastinated reading this one for years, and finally did so maybe 15 years ago, and concluded that it was as "meh" as I'd heard it described. Several weeks ago, though, I saw an interesting movie inspired by it, and although the camera work in the movie was kind of bonkers and made me ill for several days, I decided I'd reread the book. I enjoyed it more this time. Most Austen heroines are more lively than Fanny Price, who is quiet and good, and it makes sense that she's less interesting. However, this one has a worthwhile thought experiment - what if someone who is meek and basically at the mercy of everyone else around her (except the unmentioned servants, of course) is also highly principled, in ways that make it hard to compete with someone who has that liveliness that's so appealing to others?

That sounds like a great point that JA herself would have appreciated! I read it twice too and liked it better the second time. :)
