Wandering turkey
Mar. 30th, 2024 11:59 pmWe had lovely sunny weather today - even though the temperature was only 63 or so, it was warm enough for J to sit in the sunshine and read. I delivered a book to my friend BHW, so she can read it for our mini-book club, and on the walk back I came as close as I'd ever been to a wild turkey, maybe about six feet? It had gotten separated from its flock, which was nowhere to be seen. A man parked at the side of the road was mightily amused by watching the turkey and commented to me about it as I passed; he thinks the turkey should be grateful that tomorrow is Easter and not Thanksgiving. People say things like that fairly often, but I've never heard of anyone actually considering eating one of them.
