D's day in Salem

In my last post, I told about how the three Magic players were headed north to see if they could qualify for Dallas. D was dropped off in Salem an hour and a half before the game store opened, and he had a pleasant time, I think. He spent half an hour in a bakery, then went on a walk to the capitol building and saw a cherry blossom festival underway, then he went back past the game store to the river where he watched some ducks. In the afternoon, during a break in the play, he went to lunch with the guy who'd offered to give him a ride home, and then he went on to win the event! Or rather, when it was down to the top two players, they didn't bother to play because the store had two slots for qualifying for the big Dallas event, and so they each got one. Meanwhile, J and DG's day in Portland had gone laughably poorly, so they dropped from the event, went to get lunch, and were back in Salem in time to bring D home with them.

I ended up not getting very much work done, but it was certainly nice weather outside, a high of 73 maybe? Quite lovely.

73, wow! It is a very nice day here for us, 63! It was nice to take Zilly for a walk with just a flannel shirt, no sweatshirt or coat and a sunhat, wow! (False spring but I'll take it)!

Yes, 63 is perfectly nice for March! I think 73 was a record, but nobody was complaining.
