Busy Saturday

eve_primeToday I spent an hour helping J clean up some of the fallen branches in his yard, since the crew the neighbors are going to hire haven't come yet, and it was a reasonably dry and not-cold day. Then we watched Babylon 5, then J went off to play Rolemaster, and I got a bunch of work done on writing projects. One wouldn't know I woke up feeling slightly sick today, given how much I did.
Meanwhile, D and DG were playing in a Magic tournament at our downtown game store, using Standard decks. The winner of this tournament qualifies to play in Dallas at the end of May, and the top players at the Dallas tournament get to play in the pro tour event in June, in Amsterdam! J doesn't like to play the Magic formats where you bring a deck you've built ahead of time, so he didn't go with them. D and DG both made top 8, then D beat DG, and then the next opponent, and he was in the finals! He and the opponent split the first two games, then the opponent got perfect card draw and beat D. Meanwhile, D's childhood friend DG won a different tournament so is qualified for Dallas.
There's another of these qualifying tournaments tomorrow, in Springfield, and DG borrowed a deck from someone who won't be there and talked J into playing it. So all three of them will try in that one. There's also one next Saturday in Portland, with the format J prefers.
