I'm writing this at about 3 a.m., wondering when I'll get to post it. My day was fine, and since it's Monday I got to have a meal at the Bier Stein with J, D, DG, and JC. After that I went to the library and then drove home. We're having a lot of cold rain, and I could see snow on the Coburg Hills as I drove downtown, and snow mixed with rain on the windshield when I drove home again. I did various useful things and then read while they all played Magic, then they came home.

At midnight, though, the internet went out. Eventually I spent some time investigating it and discovered that both of our Comcast services are out, the internet and the TV cable. So then I tried to call Comcast, but my phone told me that Verizon was "temporarily unavailable" too! This is truly bizarre. Why would both companies be failing, when, for example, we still have electricity just fine?

I had to hand-write notes for both J and D, since they'll get up before I do and will need to know what's going on. If everything isn't back to normal by the time they need to work, I suggested that J could drive them both to their offices, which aren't very far apart. I hope they'll remember to leave me a note if they end up going, given that I'm cut off from the world...

Updated Tuesday afternoon. When Comcast and Verizon were both still down at 7 am, I was rather worried about the scope of the problem! Just us, just our neighborhood, the whole city, the entire West Coast? I went outside and found that the newspaper had been delivered and the garbage collected, so apparently it wasn't an all-consuming crisis for everyone, like if we'd suddenly gone to war.

Comcast was back around 7:20 am, though, and I found a news post on the website of our neighborhood TV station that this join outage had affected about 2,000 households locally. Just now, though, I learned that lots and lots of tech companies had outages today, nationwide, so it may have been an attack related to Super Tuesday voting???

That is really weird timing. I am sorry that happened to you, and both, jeez.

Facebook was down around the world this morning. Maybe they are both related to Super Tuesday. The joke amoungst my friends on Facebook was that Taylor Swift told all her Swifties to register to vote, lol.

Definitely sounds like a pretty wide outage...
