So, as I reported last time, D has Covid. J also feels unwell and had spent a whole lot of time with D, so (with a 72-hr incubation period) we’ll know by Thursday whether he has Covid too. My turn will be by Friday or so. When D had Covid before, I could just spend a lot of time at J’s house (or outside, since it was May), and when J had Covid I could just stay home, but this time I’m more constrained. D and I both wear masks when we leave our bedrooms (except if I’m eating while sitting on the couch), and he’s minimizing his time outside his room. He did have to come into my room to take a shower, but he was much quicker about it than usual, and I ran my air purifier afterwards and wore my mask for an hour. I hope that will suffice.

Since J isn’t masking up inside his house, I’m supposed to wait to hang out there until we know he’s okay. It’s pretty boring to be mostly stuck in my room. I did put on a mask to go buy groceries in case I can’t go later in the week, and also we needed more Covid tests. Also S dropped off some Gatorade for D, and I expect she’ll bring him some food for variety on other days. And until I’m actually sick, if that happens, I can put on a mask and do other brief errands. I had to miss a special talk this afternoon on campus – Tina Brown came to talk about women in journalism. The livestream audio quality was rather poor.

At any rate, D feels much better than the other time he had Covid; he’s in a good mood and I’ve heard him laughing several times. It’s rather nicer to be sick when one has a job than when one is in school, too, because he can just take a day off, whereas the school work had to get done regardless.

I sure hope you don't get it. Good to stay away from both of them. Fingers crossed.
