Today I met one of J's Magic-playing friends for the first time, and learned about his new job - there's a "dining room" for our county's food donation network, where hungry people can get a sit-down meal for free. Unfortunately they only have the funds to serve people one meal a day, four days a week, but that's better than nothing. I learned that one of their clients walks all the way from the Thurston neighborhood on the far side of Springfield, maybe 10 miles? We need to do better.

I want to get more involved in our programs in my county. They have time slots but they are always at 4pm it seems which is the time of day I cannot do. But there is also sign up for a program here where you bring a hot dinner to specific folks on a list. Like meals on wheels but not just elderly may apply. It's through the temp housing program. I could AT LEAST do that.

Great! One of my friends spent some time on the burrito brigade, where they distribute hundreds of vegan burritos to the homeless, I think at a park. I think we need systemic changes, at least locally, so that more people have homes.
