It's tree pollen season here from January until June, when grass pollen starts. Every year in January, as soon as there's a good break in the rain, I typically have one day where I feel totally bleh from allergies, and then I get better and it becomes more tolerable (at least until the next type of pollen that I'm allergic to starts, but the first day in January is usually the worst). I'm hoping that's why I was excessively sleepy yesterday. I hadn't decided in advance whether I'd go to symphony happy hour or to dinner with J, D, and DG, but I ended up doing neither. I just stayed home and watched this week's episode of All Creatures Great and Small.

Today, though, I felt pretty normal, yay. I helped the guy who came to clean out the dryer vent at J's house, and after he left I had time to go to the symphony master class. This week's guest artist, a nice young cellist named Oliver Herbert, gave pointers to three advanced cello students, each of whom had chosen a rather beautiful piece to present (by Haydn, Rachmaninov, and Brahms). I sat in the back with Andrea and her husband (from our youth orchestras board), and later I was joined by Cynthia, our new interim ED; I hadn't really gotten to talk with her before so that was fun.

On the way home, I stopped at the market where I can sometimes get the bread I like, and they finally (finally!) had one loaf of it. (There was plenty of that bakery's other varieties, as they seem to have recovered from the ice storm, but the kind I prefer must be extra popular I guess.) Then later, at Safeway, we had a fun chat with our young neighbor who reads SFF; she's on the R.F. Kuang trilogy.
